10:00 AM Sunday Service

Worship: What's It Like?

At Incarnation, worship is the work of the whole community.

We meet weekly for Sunday Worship at 8:30 am (said service) and 10:00 am (contemporary service). We enjoy a warm, informal atmosphere and dress for comfort. We encourage people to assist in many ways (see Activities).

We like to experiment with spiritual expression through our worship. We are innovative and committed to looking for new ways to express God’s presence in our services. A Worship Committee, comprised of the rector and members of the community, meet regularly to plan the worship experience. The service follows the Anglican Order of Service, but includes many "custom" components that make the Incarnation experience unique.

Our service incorporates many types of music. We take care to choose or create songs that relate to the day’s theme, so that the music helps set the mood for the service. Most of the service comprises congregational singing, with the choir singing some pieces on their own.

Please check out our Order of Service to help decipher what is happening in our Sunday service. If we haven’t answered all your questions, please ask.

Children's Ministry

Almost half of the population of the Incarnation are under the age of 20, so "a little child shall lead them", is more than a sentimental phrase; it is a grounding fact in all our deliberations. At the same time we have many members without children who attend and like the energy and wonder that young people bring to the community.

We have church school classes and a nursery, but if you’d prefer to have your children stay with you during the service, that is fine too. We like to see children take part in the service. They may take on the readings, prayers, and other responsibilities available to the adults. Some young people assist as servers, preparing the table (altar) for communion. Even the very young can participate by assisting the greeters or bringing forward the gifts.

Youth Ministry

At present, there is no worship service specifically targeted to youth from the ages of 15-21, but they do organize and deliver a youth-oriented service periodically throughout the year. This includes music, prayer and worship elements that they develop on their own. Incarnation also organizes youth activities with other parishes in the Oakville area.
